Public Employee's Discharge For Violating County Policies Restricting Political Campaigning Did Not Violate First Amendment

In this case, the 5th Circuit held that a county employee's discharge for violating county policies prohibiting an off-duty employee from politically soliciting an on-duty employee on county property, and prohibiting the distribution of campaign material on county property, did not violate the employee's First Amendment rights. The policies were viewpoint neutral, as they banned all such campaigning. Also, the policies were limited in scope. Furthermore, there was no evidence that they were administered in a discriminatory fashion.
