Female Applicant Failed To Prove Nondiscriminatory Reasons For Refusing To Hire Her Were Pretextual

In this case, the United States District Court held that a foundry was entitled to summary judgment on a Title VII sex discrimination claim by an unsuccessful female applicant for a position. The court found that the foundry's proffered reason for refusing to hire her for that position--her unsuitability based on her removal from that position with another foundry due to medical limitations and attendance issues--was legitimate and nondiscriminatory. The applicant failed to meet her burden of showing, under any established method, that the foundry's proffered reason was pretextual.
